Characterizing Preferential Flow Across CONUS
First paper published during my Ph.D. program.
Focused on preferential flow (rapid flow of water), a key factor in contaminant transport from the soil surface to the subsurface.
Developed a novel approach for observing and estimating large-scale effective preferential flow, utilizing remote sensing data (SMAP soil moisture).
This method provides a more efficient way for users to analyze preferential flow, circumventing the need for constant field measurements, which are often costly and labor-intensive to obtain.
September 2017 - May 2018
FEMAÂ Well Water Quality Project
Texas A&M University
Analyzed the water quality of wells in Texas that were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Conducted three rounds of research on water samples to determine their coliform, turbidity and pH levels.
Communicated results to well owners along with solutions to improve their well water quality.
Created ways to communicate technical scientific terms to individuals who may not have been familiar with the terminology.
June 2017Â - October 2018
Antibiotic Resistance Bacteria Project
Texas A&M University
Post-Doctoral Research Assistant
Prepped media for water samples using the Kirby Bauer Method.
Analyzed sample results utilizing ImageJ software.
Gave a presentation of the research and results at the Texas Branch of American Society for Microbiology.
June 2017Â - July 2017
REU Water Quality Research Fellowship
Texas A&M University
Collaborated with other students to collect samples and data for on-site septic tanks.
Assisted professors in testing samples in the lab that had been gathered at the various sites.
Created presentations and reports to represent my work and learning experiences.
